Douglas Pratt

Douglas Pratt lives in Longs, South Carolina. His area was completely flooded by the waters from Hurricane Florence in 2018, which damaged over 11,000 homes in the area, estimated to cost $2 Billion. The region has experienced approximately a foot in sea level rise over the past 100 years, increased substantially by climate change. With a higher sea level than ever before, larger land areas are flooding, and more lives are affected every time there’s a hurricane. Hurricane Florence also moved slowly, holding its intensity for longer, which meant far more extreme damage. This is the alarming reality of the climate crisis.
