Maria Luiza Santos lives in the city of Camaçu, in Bahía, Brazil. Camaçu is right in the industrial heart of the state that powers the capital, just north of Salvador. From her window, she can see the constant column of smoke polluting the air each day. Her city is surrounded by nature but as each day goes by, the changing climate, and the increasing rate of deforestation inflicts more and more damage on Brazil’s natural spaces and its air quality. This is the alarming reality of the climate crisis.
